Odisha woman breaks records with songs about driving safety in honour of her son who passed away

Bhadrak town resident Sujata Khatua is listed in the India Book of Records for penning songs in remembrance of her son, who was killed in an automobile accident.

Soumitra Mohanty, Sujata’s son, was in his last year of MBBS. In September of last year, he tragically lost his life in a traffic accident—a cruel joke of fate. Sujata found it extremely difficult to accept her son’s sudden passing.

She began writing songs in remembrance of her son while she was deeply in mourning. Most of her songs have road safety and awareness as their central theme. She quickly rose to fame for her poetry in her community. In remembrance of her son, she has now been granted a spot in the India Book of Records for her compositions on traffic law awareness.
