The victim and the accused shared a room for five-six days before the assault, according to the complaint.
Mumbai: A court granted bail to a man accused of aiding and abetting the suicide of his girlfriend and an Air India pilot, ruling that the victim had not brought up the tense relationship and his actions with her family or any other authority.
Early on November 25, the body of 25-year-old pilot Srishti Tuli, who resided in a rented apartment in Mumbai's Marol neighborhood, was discovered. Aditya Pandit, her 27-year-old boyfriend, was detained by police a day later and accused of aiding and abetting suicide.
On December 27, T T Aglawe, an additional sessions judge at the Dindoshi court, granted the defendants bail.
The court stated in the comprehensive ruling released on Thursday that the FIR identifies three instances of a tense relationship between the deceased and the applicant.
"However, the deceased had not complained about the acts of the applicant either to her family members or to any other authority," the judge stated.
It concluded that as the material investigation was already complete, it was "not warranted" to restrict the applicant's (Pandit) additional freedom.
The victim's uncle had filed the case against Pandit.
The victim and the accused shared a room for five-six days before the assault, according to the complaint. However, the accused departed for Delhi at approximately 1 pm on the day of the incident.
Because the accused was a vegetarian and Tuli was not, it has been claimed that the two used to argue about their eating choices.
The complainant said that she might have killed herself for that reason alone.
Aniket Nikam, Pandit's attorney, countered that there was no evidence of aiding and abetting suicide.
"Merely because there were some fights between both of them, it does not mean that the applicant had any criminal intent," stated the attorney.
The court gave Pandit bail after hearing both sides.
