The Odisha Cricket Association (OCA) announced a ticket price reduction on Tuesday after cricket fans and former players objected to the increase for the India-England ODI match scheduled for February 9, 2025, at Barabati Stadium.
According to the OCA's media release, Suryabanshi Suraj, the Minister of Sports and Youth Services, recommended that the match's ticket prices be changed. A decision regarding the revision of rates was made at a meeting that the Minister attended in preparation for the forthcoming ODI match.
Key players involved in the planning and coordination of the event, as well as representatives from all relevant departments of the Government of Odisha, attended the preparatory meeting.
The meeting was called to review the preparations for this prestigious international cricket match and guarantee smooth coordination between different agencies for its successful execution, according to the OCA media release. Important topics pertaining to infrastructure readiness, crowd control, hospitality, security, transportation, and branding opportunities were thoroughly discussed.
The last One-Day International cricket match played at Cuttack's Barabati Stadium took place on December 22, 2019. India and the West Indies played each other. Cricket fans are thrilled that an ODI has finally returned to the stadium. They were disappointed, though, by the increase in ticket costs that the OCA had previously announced.
Sanjay Behera, the secretary of OCA, commented on the increase in ticket prices and explained that it was necessary due to the rise in ancillary costs.
