Oppressive summer heat to batter Odisha as Kalbaisakhi showers wane, temp to rise by 4- 5 degrees

The oppressive summer heat is set to return as the notorious Kalbaisakhi pre-monsoon showers are expected to subside today. There will be a brief lull in the Kalbaisakhi-induced showers, leading to an increase in temperatures across coastal regions, reports said.

Some areas may still experience isolated showers, but the respite won't last long. The Regional Meteorological Centre has issued a yellow warning for thunder and lightning for six Odisha districts: Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, and Cuttack.

Weather Pattern Shift Anticipated

Starting tomorrow, a noticeable change in the weather is anticipated. Forecasts from the Regional Meteorological Department suggest a rise in both day and night temperatures. Daytime temperatures are expected to rise by four to five degrees Celsius in the next four to five days. A similar increase in nighttime temperatures is also expected.

“The maximum or day temperature is all set to rise again in Odisha. As per the IMD’s forecast, there will be a gradual rise in the maximum temperature by 4 to 5°C during the next 4-5 days over the districts of Odisha. Similarly, the night temperature is also expected to see a rise,” a statement from the weather department read.
