According to reports, Rajat Kumar, who was instrumental in saving Indian cricketer Rishabh Pant following his terrible car accident in December 2022, tried to kill himself and his girlfriend by ingesting poison.

Sources claim that the couple ingested poison after their families objected to their relationship. Rajat is fighting for his life after his girlfriend, Manu Kashyap, passed away.

Manu, age 21, and Rajat, age 25, were from different communities, and their families were very against their relationship. The couple eventually stopped meeting after Manu got engaged somewhere else, despite their best attempts to persuade their families. According to sources, they were devastated and, in a desperate move, ingested a potent pesticide.

According to a physician who treated Rajat, "Both ingested a potent pesticide." We started treatment right away. Rajat is getting better in our care, but Manu's family moved her somewhere else.

Rajat came into the spotlight in 2022 when he helped pull Rishabh Pant from his burning vehicle after the cricketer’s near-fatal accident on the Delhi-Dehradun Highway. Pant suffered severe injuries and took over a year to fully recover before making his comeback in IPL 2024 as the Delhi Capitals captain. Now, he is part of India’s squad for the Champions Trophy 2025.
