After the jaimala ceremony, a bride refused to marry the groom, causing chaos in Sultanpur, Uttar Pradesh. The bride left her family and guests perplexed as she left the stage, claiming he was mentally unfit and less educated than she was.

The incident happened in Mustafabad Kala village on November 17. According to reports, a procession of the groom's side arrived at the location in the evening.


The bride's family welcomed the arriving party and performed the necessary rites, and everything proceeded as planned. Things took a turn for the worse when the attendees sat for feasting following the jaimala ceremony.
The 28-year-old bride abruptly insisted on leaving the stage. She affirmed her decision to not marry the groom during a debate that took place on the pavilion.

There were differences because the groom had failed his tenth grade exams, while the bride had graduated. She further claimed that the man she intended to marry was mentally ill.


Elders from both families reportedly attempted to calm the bride down as well. She did not waver in her decision, though. Police arrived shortly after and noted the situation, but they were unable to persuade the bride, so the wedding was called off.

Since then, the two families have decided to cancel the wedding and pay for it.
