In the early hours of Friday, a 6.1-magnitude earthquake struck Nepal, causing homes to tremble and waking up locals. Tremors also reached Bihar, Siliguri, and other nearby areas in India.
The epicentre was located in Bhairavkunda, Sindhupalchowk district, approximately 65 kilometers east of Kathmandu, according to confirmation from the National Earthquake Monitoring and Research Centre.
The quake hit at 2:51 a.m. local time, causing panic in the central and eastern regions of Nepal.
The impact of Friday's earthquake was still being assessed, with no reports of damage or casualties. Social media posts showed buildings and ceiling fans shaking in Patna, Sikkim, and Darjeeling.
