A glimpse into the life of the legendary Zakir Hussain, who took home three Grammy Awards in one night

The public relations representative for his family, Jon Bleicher, has finally confirmed the death of the legendary Tabla maestro Zakir Hussain.

According to Jon's statement, "Zakir Hussain, one of the most transcendent musicians in the world, died in San Francisco at the age of 73 from idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis.


He is survived by his wife, Antonia Minnecola; his brothers, Taufiq and Fazal Qureshi; his sister, Khurshid Aulia; and his daughters, Isabella Qureshi and Anisa Qureshi (her husband, Taylor Phillips, and their daughter, Zara). He leaves behind a remarkable legacy that is treasured by innumerable music enthusiasts worldwide, and his impact will last for many generations.
