Rohit Sharma is criticized by a former Indian player for evading accountability.

Due to poor form, Team India captain Rohit Sharma left the playing XI in the fifth Test match against Australia in the just finished Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Additionally, the visitors lost the series to the hosts in a humiliating fashion.

Saba Karim, the former wicketkeeper for India, responded by criticizing Rohit for choosing not to play in the Sydney Test. Karim claims that Rohit was tasked with captaining the squad for the duration of the 2024–25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy. The seasoned batsman, however, fled from his duty.

"I don't think Rohit Sharma made the right choice, and he ought to have played in the previous Test. He was given responsibility for five Tests by the BCCI and the selectors, but he left in the middle. He ought to have been the team's captain until the Sydney Test. "Every player experiences these stages," Karim stated in a recent conversation.

Karim added that despite Rohit's subpar batting performances, he ought to have taken the lead.

"He should have demonstrated passion and will to lead the team from the front, even though he struggled with the bat. He was given the opportunity to lead the team because he is a good batter. Had the players not been playing, Rohit ought to have stood up for them. Rohit's decision to resign surprised me," he continued.
