IPL2025: The true cause of Rishabh Pants departure from Delhi Capital is known

A popular player for any team in the lucrative Indian Premier League (IPL), aggressive wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant is renowned for his attacking batting, subtle cricketing skills, and astute leadership abilities that are ideal for the game's shortened format.

The left-hander was sold to the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at a staggering price of Rs 27 crore in the most recent mega auction, making him the most expensive player in IPL history after the Delhi Capitals were unable to keep him.

Revealing the reason behind not retaining Pant in the team for IPL 2025, Delhi Capitals co-owner Parth Jindal recently said that the franchise did everything possible to retain the southpaw ahead of the IPL mega auction. However, the star wicketkeeper-batter was on ‘different wavelengths’ on how to operate the team, leading to his departure.

“It was just a different philosophy of how he wanted the franchise to operate and how us (the owners) wanted the franchise to operate. That is what caused it (Pant’s departure). There is nothing to do with money,” said Jindal.

Rishabh has never struggled with money. And we've never had a financial problem. I suppose that Jindal, Pant, and Kiran Grandhi were all on different wavelengths. At the end of it, he (Pant) answered a call. He continued, "We tried everything, but in the end, he decided it was time to move on."

Jindal added that the owners had certain expectations about how the franchise should be operated, and Pant had certain expectations as well.

"We provided Pant with some leadership-related feedback.
