There is a noticeable chill in the air as Punekars head out to vote in the Assembly elections as the temperature continues to drop. The city is expected to see temperatures ranging from 17.38°C to 28.25°C today, with a 40% relative humidity and wind gusts of up to 40 km/h.
Pune did, however, record one of the season's lowest minimum temperatures on Tuesday, 12.9°C. The season's record low temperature of 11°C was recorded in the Haveli and NDA regions. In Pune, cooler temperatures were also recorded in Koregaon Park (17.4°C), Hadapsar (15.2°C), Magarpatta (18.6°C), Pashan (13.3°C), Wadgaon Sheri (18.4°C), and Balewadi (15.7°C).
Now that the recent rains, which included light to moderate showers, have stopped, colder weather is expected to return to South India and Maharashtra. Significant temperature drops have occurred, with minimum temperatures in northern and western Maharashtra dropping by as much as 4°C in a single day.
According to IMD Pune senior meteorologist S.D. Sanap, cool northerly winds are currently affecting Maharashtra's weather, causing the state's relative humidity to drop by 10% to 15%. The state is seeing a steady drop in temperature as a result of the reduction in cloud cover.
Over the past two days, temperatures have been steadily dropping, with some places seeing lows of 12°C, according to KS Hosalikar, Head of IMD Pune. Because of wind patterns brought on by low-pressure areas over the Indian Ocean and high-pressure systems in the northwest, this cold trend is predicted to last until the end of the week. However, as moisture levels rise after Friday, temperatures might slightly rise.
