Odisha budget of Rs 2.65 lakh cr is presented by Chief Minister Mohan Majhi, emphasising agriculture.

Mohan Majhi, the chief minister and minister of finance of Odisha, unveiled his government’s first state budget for the 2024–25 fiscal year in the Odisha Assembly on Thursday.

Majhi gave the Assembly a budget of Rs 2,65,000 crore for the 2024–25 fiscal year, which is roughly 15% more than the estimated amount for 2023–24. In 2023–24, the yearly budget was Rs 2,30,000 crore.

Compared to the previous year’s Rs 24,829 cr, the proposed allocation for agriculture has increased to Rs 33,919 crore. An ambitious ‘CM Kisan’ programme for farmers was suggested by the chief minister of Odisha, with a budget of Rs 1935 crore.

Additionally, the Samrudha Krushak Yojana, which would cost Rs 5000 crore, was announced for farmers.

Gopabandhu Yojana in place of BSKY

Gopabandhu Jan Arogya Yojana has been launched in place of Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana as State’s own health insurance coverage scheme. Beneficiaries under the scheme will get cashless treatment facilities at private and government hospitals. Implementation of Ayushman Bharat scheme in the State has been announced.
