Ranji Trophy 2025: Virat Kohli to play domestic tournament for first time in 13 years.

After struggling with his batting form with Team India in recent months, veteran batsman Virat Kohli has been added to the Delhi team for their Ranji Trophy Elite Group D match against Saurashtra on January 23.

Kohli has been named to Delhi's 22-man provisional squad for their next match, but his participation is uncertain after it was revealed that he is nursing a niggle.

Kohli has informed the Delhi and Districts Cricket Association (DDCA) top brass that he has a neck niggle sustained in Sydney during the final Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test against Australia.

Champions Trophy: Sanju Samson's selection in doubt as BCCI investigates his absence from domestic cricket

The BCCI has made it mandatory for all centrally contracted cricketers to play domestic cricket unless there is a compelling reason to avoid the assignment.

The Board has warned that non-compliance will result in sanctions such as deductions from the central contract retainer and a ban from playing in the Indian Premier League.

Among the big names already confirmed for the upcoming Ranji game are Yashasvi Jaiswal, who will play for Mumbai, and Shubman Gill, who will represent Punjab in the next round.
