Due to the clearly visible low-pressure area over the northwest and adjacent west-central Bay of Bengal, heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected to lash several parts of Odisha for an additional four days.
As of today, July 19, the northwest and adjacent west-central Bay of Bengal, off the coasts of Odisha and North Andhra Pradesh, were covered by the clearly defined low-pressure area over the central and adjacent north Bay of Bengal.
According to IMD, it is expected to consolidate into a depression over the same area during the next 12 hours, then move northwest and cross the coast of Odisha during the next 24 hours.
At least orange rainfall warnings have been issued for districts like Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Koraput, Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Malkangiri, Kandhamal, Boudh, and Puri. It is predicted to rain heavily to extremely heavily in Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, and Kalahandi.
In a similar vein, yellow warnings have been issued for nine more districts. Furthermore, during the next 48 hours, squally weather with wind gusts up to 60 kmph are likely to prevail over the northwest and adjacent west-central Bay of Bengal, as well as along and off the coasts of North Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, and West Bengal.
It has been recommended that fishermen avoid fishing in the northwest and adjacent west-central Bay of Bengal, as well as off the coasts of Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, and West Bengal, for the next two days.
Three districts have received orange warnings from the weather department for tomorrow, and at least thirteen districts have received yellow warnings.
