According to local media and a volunteer group, a shelling targeting a petrol station south of the capital of Khartoum, Sudan, killed at least 28 persons and injured 37 more.
"The ammonia fuel station, located in the new Market 6 in Mayo neighborhood, north of Bashair Hospital, was bombed, resulting in significant human and material losses," a statement released on Sunday by the South Khartoum Emergency Room, a volunteer organization in the area.
According to the Xinhua news agency, there were eight cases of shrapnel wounds and 29 burn cases, three of which were first-degree burns.
The group called for more medical support for the injured and stated that medical measures were underway to address the tragedy.
Al-Rakoba, a Sudanese news portal, revealed on Sunday that the ammonia fuel station bombardment claimed 28 lives and injured 37 others.
The attack has not yet been attributed to any party.
Since mid-April 2023, the Sudanese Armed Forces and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces have been engaged in a catastrophic fight in Sudan.
International organizations estimate that the terrible conflict has killed over 27,120 people and displaced over 14 million people inside and outside of Sudan.
