The Odisha Assembly session is poised for renewed fervour on Wednesday after a brief three-day hiatus.
As per sources, the meeting agenda includes pivotal discussions on agriculture, farmer empowerment, food supply and welfare, energy, co-operatives, fisheries and livestock.
Additionally, attention will be directed towards weaving, handicrafts, micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), and science and technology.
Opposition Tactics & Government Response
Since the onset of the second phase, the Opposition has intensified its stance, presenting a significant challenge to the ruling government. In what has been a dramatic turn of events, as many as 14 Congress legislators received suspensions following disruptive actions within the Assembly, underscoring the heightening tensions.
Despite this, Congress Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) have persisted in their demonstrations, employing creative methods to express dissent.
The Congress party has strongly opposed the suspensions, calling them an attempt to suppress the voice of the opposition. The political tension is expected to continue as the Congress party vows to intensify its protest against the state government in the coming days.
Key Political Moves
The principal opposition is expected to introduce an adjournment motion today, aiming to highlight urgent public concerns and exert pressure on the government. Meanwhile, the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) is anticipated to leverage Zero Hour to raise various pressing issues, seeking to hold the government accountable.
In response, the governing party is likely to table several bills, which could ignite further rigorous debate and discussion.
