As Odisha gets ready to welcome the new year, wet weather is predicted to start today. Over the following two days, a western disturbance is expected to bring light to moderate rainfall to the northern and northwestern regions.

According to the meteorological office, there may be precipitation on the 28th and 29th of this month due to light to moderate rainfall predicted in a number of regions. The state is predicted to get rainfall today, especially in western Odisha, as a result of the western disturbance, indicating a cold start to the year.

Rain showers are possible today in the districts of Bargarh, Balangir, Nuapada, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, and Sonepur. Rainfall is expected in areas like Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Kandhamal, and Kalahandi on December 29.

In the meantime, Odisha is expected to experience bone-chilling cold throughout the New Year, according to the Regional Meteorological Center. The Meteorological Department predicts that January will begin chilly and dry, with the western disturbance's aftereffects subsiding by then.

According to predictions, there will be a considerable drop in temperature and continued dry weather from December 30 to January 2. The Meteorological Department predicts dry spells with an increase in winter chill as the year starts, but no significant changes in nighttime temperatures are anticipated during the next three days.


A yellow fog warning has been issued for the districts of Balangir, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, and Nabarangpur today, alerting the locals to the possibility of intense fog.
