Beginning on February 10, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will travel to France for three days. The visit coincides with efforts by both countries to strengthen their cooperation in a number of areas, most notably in technology and artificial intelligence (AI).
PM Modi will co-chair the AI Summit in Paris during this trip, which will cover significant topics like innovation, the future of work, public interest in AI, and global AI governance.
Meanwhile, the PM’s visit also aims to deepen the economic and defence collaboration between the two countries and promote sustainable development through climate-focused projects.
1. Co-Chairing the AI Summit: Prioritizing the needs of the Global South, addressing risks, and ensuring equitable access were all highlighted in India's invitation to co-chair the AI Summit. PM Modi displayed India's Rs 10,371 crore.AI Mission: Developing AI in India and for India to spur innovation and democratize the advantages of AI both at home and abroad.
2. Strengthening Strategic Partnership: By working together on disaster resilience and clean energy (International Solar Alliance), PM Modi and French President Emmanuel Macron strengthened their 25-year strategic partnership.
3. Technology Transfer and Defence: The two leaders' discussions also focused on technology transfer and Made in India. The visit will strengthen defence cooperation by expanding on previous initiatives such as India's acquisition of Scorpene submarines and Rafale aircraft.
4. International Cooperation on AI: With an emphasis on Innovation, Public Interest in AI, the Future of Work, and Trust in AI, India will support global AI governance. In order to address the opportunities and challenges of AI, the AI Summit will also make use of initiatives by the UN, OECD, GPAI, G7, and G20.
