In certain districts of Odisha on March 19 and 20, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Saturday issued a “orange warning” for thunderstorms with lightning and gusty surface winds of up to 40 to 50 kmph.
An orange warning has been issued for 12 districts for tomorrow, according to an IMD bulletin. A strong wind with gusts between 40 and 50 km/h is expected during this period.
Similarly, four districts were the subject of an orange alert issued by the Meteorological Department on March 20. In the meantime, strong rain and hailstorms have been forecast in certain areas by the Met Department.
The first day’s weather forecast is valid from 8:30 am on March 18, 2024, to 8:30 am on March 19, 2024.
Yellow Alert:
Over the districts of Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Angul, Dhenkanal, and Deogarh, there is a high probability of thunderstorms with lightning occurring at one or two locations.
Day 2 (Applicable from March 19, 2024, to March 20, 2024, 8:30 am) Orange Alert:
i) There is a high probability of one or two thunderstorms with lightning, hail, and gusty surface winds of 40 to 50 kmph occurring over the districts of Boudh, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Bolangir, Rayagada, Nabarangpur, Angul, Nayagarh, and Dhenkanal.

It is highly probable that there will be one or two thunderstorms with lightning and gusty surface winds of 30 to 40 kmph over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Gajapati, Deogarh, and Keonjhar.nderstorms with lightning and significant rainfall occurring over the districts of Dhenkanal, Cuttack, Nayagarh, Kandhamal, Ganjam, and Khordha.
