The scorching heat doesn’t seem to be abating for the people of Odisha. For the next four days, Odisha is expected to endure a severe heat wave, according to the India Meteorological Department.
The Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar has predicted that during that time, mercury levels will likely surpass 45 degrees Celsius in many areas of the State, primarily in the interior and northern regions of Western Odisha.
In addition, IMD has forecast that in the next 48 hours, temperatures in some areas of the State may increase by two degrees Celsius.
In these areas of the state, the IMD has issued a Red Warning due to the extreme heatwave conditions. It’s likely that things will stay this way until April 30. The heatwave situation is expected to last until May 9 because there are less chances of any storms or rainfall in the State during that time.
The residents of Odisha are still suffering from the intense heatwave, with Talcher recording the state’s highest temperature of 36.8 degrees Celsius until 8:30 on Saturday morning. Baripada, which had a maximum temperature of 36 degrees Celsius during that time, came next. The highest temperature recorded early in the morning in Keonjhar, Rourkela, and Bolangir was 34.8 degrees Celsius, while the highest temperature in Bhawanipatna, Balasore, and Boudh was 34 degrees Celsius each.
For the past 12 days, the maximum temperature in Capital City Bhubaneswar has been above 40 degrees Celsius. Furthermore, the circumstances in over 50% of the State’s districts are essentially the same.
