Odisha is under monsoon; nine districts are under yellow alert from the MeT department.

Many in Odisha are relieved that the monsoon has finally brought rain to the region, especially after the excessive heatwave that the state had experienced. A ‘yellow warning’ for rain has been issued in multiple districts by the Regional MeT department in Bhubaneswar in the meantime.

There is a yellow alert for rainfall in nine districts: Khordha, Nayagarh, Boudh, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Ganjam, Rayagada, Jharsuguda, and Sundergarh, according to the regional weather department. For farmers who were waiting on the spells to begin their Kharif cultivation, the arrival of the Monsoon has been a boon.

For the next two days, rain, thunderstorms, and lightning are predicted by the MeT department. It was learned that starting on January 26, there will probably be more rain.

In the meanwhile, between June 1 and June 22, Odisha received 39% less rainfall than average. In five districts, the situation was dire, but 17 districts experienced insufficient rainfall. Eight districts, however, experienced typical rainfall.
