The India Meteorological Department (IMD) warned on Tuesday that the rain’s intensity may pick up in a few areas of the State starting on Wednesday.
A “Yellow Warning” has been issued by the Regional Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar due to the likelihood of heavy rainfall in a number of state districts.
From June 26 to June 30, there is a chance of heavy to extremely heavy rain in a number of locations throughout the State. In the southern, interior, and coastal regions of northern Odisha, thunderstorms with lightning and gusty surface winds of up to 40 kmph are possible.
Nearly the whole state has already experienced monsoon. Up to six districts have received normal rainfall, but so far 24 districts have received less than normal rainfall.
