Maximum day and nighttime temperatures won’t change for the next three days; relief is anticipated on May 6.

For the next three days in the state, there doesn’t seem to be any relief from the extreme heat wave. The latest reports indicate that following the hottest April on record, temperatures in various parts of Odisha are expected to stay at or above 40 degrees Celsius.

The highest daytime and nighttime temperatures probably won’t change until May 6. The state will, however, be relieved because after May 6, it is predicted that the temperature will drop by three to four degrees.

The Regional Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar has advised that a respite from the heat wave is anticipated for the coastal regions of Odisha during the next two days.

Bolangir recorded the highest temperature of 45 degrees Celsius on Thursday, while at least 29 towns in the state saw temperatures above 40 degrees. The Nor’westerly rain caused a slight drop in temperature in the Twin Cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar.

The mercury dropped to 38.6 degrees Celsius in Cuttack while it reached 39 degrees Celsius in Bhubaneswar.

On the other hand, Bhubaneswar recorded a temperature of 40 degrees Celsius or above for 17 days in a row in April, marking the first such record since 1969.
