South Africa defeated Afghanistan by 9 wickets to advance to their first-ever T20 World Cup final.

Clinical South Africa defeated Afghanistan by nine wickets in the semifinal to earn a spot in their first-ever T20 World Cup final.

After bowling Afghanistan out for a pitiful 56 runs, the Proteas put themselves in a strong position to advance to the final. Then, with 67 balls remaining, they dashed to the target.

The Afghans’ earlier decision to bat failed miserably as South Africa’s pacers took full advantage of the significant seam movement available.

Afghanistan had lost half of their side in the Powerplay and were in total disarray.

Spinner Tabraiz Shamsi (3/6) took three wickets, but the pace trio of Marco Jansen (3/16), Kagiso Rabada (2/14) and Anrich Nortje (2/7) shared seven wickets between them.

Azmatullah Omarzai led Afghanistan in scoring with 10 of his 12 shots.

Quick Scores:

Afghanistan: 10 runs from Azmatullah Omarzai, 3 wickets from Tabraiz Shamsi, and 3 wickets from Marco Jansen in 11.5 overs.

South Africa 60 for 1 in 8.5 overs (Aiden Markram 23 not out; Fazalhaq Farooqi 1/11) with Reeza Hendricks at 29.
