It is important to outline the necessary requirements for individuals who aspire to become political leaders.

Written by Pradeep Kumar Prusty.

In a calm and collected manner, consider Indian politicians who should be strong in terms of education, politics, and ethics in order to steer everything towards the best interests of the people and the nation. Government bureaucrats and officials who are believed to have effectively carried out public service are eager to get involved in national politics, especially in the state of Odisha, where over 54 such personalities and retired pensioners are reportedly planning to run in the state election scheduled for 2024.

There won’t be much room in this affairs for educated students, youngsters, trade unionists, or farmers’ representatives who actually have interests to dedicate for the benefit of the state and the country.

Many of the bureaucrats in Odisha took this action because of their close ties to the party in power, money, and other resources, and because they wanted to participate in the electioneering process when the entire country considered selecting educated people to serve as public representatives at all levels, from Gram Panchayet to LS and RS.

I have witnessed numerous honorable, well-educated, and honest individuals who have dedicated their entire lives to the liberation of the oppressed, impoverished, and despondent class being disregarded by the Indian populace. Since politics and its parties first emerged, the majority of its leaders and activists have been committed, had solid educational backgrounds, have a grasp of politics, etc. The INC emerged as India’s first political party in 1885, followed by the CPI in 1920. In the recent past, other parties have emerged, including the TDP, AAP, JD, BJP, TMC, and BJD. However, with the mandate, everyone was able to seize power. Regretfully, despite consistently offering the country positive and practical ideas, the left is hardly represented in the majority of states. The left is always there to support these forces in the movements of all those people, whether they are women, youth, workers, students, or peasants. However, the Indian people have never held them to the appropriate standard or respected their dedication when the country was leading by poll.

Therefore, in my opinion, there may be more requirements than just education for someone to be an elected member of a parliamentary democracy.
