At the next Maha Kumbh 2025 in Prayagraj, the Uttar Pradesh government will employ artificial intelligence-based tools and technologies for crowd control.
Yogi Adityanath, the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, has ordered the state police force to use technology for the major event.
The Chief Minister stated that since the event was anticipated to be of an unprecedented scale, setting a standard for convenience, cleanliness, and security was imperative.
“The Kumbh serves as a bridge connecting the world with India’s rich religious and cultural legacy. Thus, it’s imperative to guarantee convenience, safety, and hygiene during the event,” he stated during a senior officials’ meeting at his home.
The Chief Minister instructed officials to hire reputable organisations to plan the mela and publicise it, claiming that it will be a chance to strengthen the image of UP and India and draw pilgrims and tourists from across the globe who want to witness history firsthand.
“In order to prevent any untoward incident, the police department and other stakeholders must take advantage of technology’s ability to manage crowds effectively. A thorough action and backup plan needs to be created. In order to prevent any potential clustering from occurring before the group disturbs order in any area, artificial intelligence (AI) tools and methods must be employed to monitor crowd density, the speaker stated.
