Three students have lost their lives, and eleven others are in critical condition following a tragic incident where a bus carrying picnic-goers collided with a truck in Nayagarh, Odisha.

Three children died and eleven others were injured in a tragic picnic excursion that ended when the bus carrying them collided head-on with a truck at Buguda on the Shalabhanga jungle route, which is located inside the Daspalla police limits of Nayagarh.

More than fifty students from a coaching center in Daspalla were traveling to Harishankar and Nrusinghanath in Bolangir for a picnic on Friday night when the accident happened.

Three picnickers were killed when the bus and vehicle collided close to Sahalabhanga jungle, according to reports.

The injured kids were taken to the hospital after the accident so they could receive medical attention. Of the eleven injured, seven were transferred to the Nayagarh District Headquarters Hospital for treatment, and four injured youngsters were sent to the Daspalla hospital.

“We were heading for a picnic in Harishankar and Nrusinghnath when our bus was abruptly struck from the right side by a truck. A bus passenger reported that several youngsters had fallen from the sleeping bed above due to the shock of the collision.

When visiting the injured at the hospital, Daspalla MLA Ramesh Chandra Behera remarked, “These are students of a private coaching institute.” Just ahead of Dasapalla, as they were crossing the Shalabhanga bush, a truck struck their bus. From the location, three bodies have been retrieved. The accident injures numerous children. A few of them are crucial. We have given them access to emergency medical care. Every one of the 108 ambulances in the vicinity has been dispatched.

Rahul Jain, the SP of Nayagarh, arrived at the hospital to assess the injured.

An investigation into the accident has been started by the police.
