The dates for the election of three Rajya Sabha seats in Odisha were released by the Election Commission of India (ECI) on Monday.
The contracts of Ashwini Vaishnaw, Prashant Nanda, and Amar Pattnaik expire in April 2024, according to official sources. The official announcement from the ECI states that the Rajya Sabha seats would be up for election on February 27, 2024.
On February 8, an official announcement in this regard will be released. The terms of office of the 56 Council of States members, who were chosen from 15 states, including Odisha, are set to end in April 2024 when they retire, according to ECI.
The state of Uttar Pradesh has the highest number of Rajya Sabha seats that are set to expire in April: ten. These are followed by six each from Maharashtra and Bihar, five each from Madhya Pradesh and Karnataka, and three each from Odisha, Rajasthan, and Telangana.
The ECI stated in its statement that the deadlines for nomination filing and withdrawal are February 15 and February 20, respectively. The date of the vote count is set for February 27, 2024.
