Shri. Champai Soren, a member of JMM (Jharkhand Mukti Morcha), has been sworn in as the Chief Minister of Jharkhand.

Champai Soren, the leader of the JMM legislative party, was sworn in as Jharkhand’s chief minister on Friday.

Here at the Raj Bhavan, Governor C P Radhakrishnan administered the oath of office to him.

Senior Congressman Alamgir Alam and RJD leader Satyanand Bhokta also took taken oath of office as state ministers alongside Champai Soren.

Senior members of the JMM-led alliance were present at the oath-taking ceremony, which took place in the Durbar Hall of the Raj Bhavan.

The 67-year-old tribal chieftain took the oath of office as the state’s 12th chief minister. He was elected as Jharkhand’s sixth chief minister from the Kolhan area, which includes the districts of Seraikela-Kharsawan, West Singhbhum, and East Singhbhum.

Following his appeal to the governor to grant his request to form the government as soon as possible, Champai Soren was named chief minister on Thursday. The state had been in “confusion” since Hemant Soren’s resignation on Wednesday, which exacerbated the political crisis.

According to Rajesh Thakur, the chief of the state Congress, which is a part of the alliance formed by the JMM, Champai Soren has been given ten days to demonstrate the legitimacy of his government.

“We are unified. We have a very powerful partnership. It cannot be broken,” Champai Soren had declared.

Notably, following his resignation as Jharkhand chief minister, JMM executive president Hemant Soren was detained by the Enforcement Directorate on Wednesday in connection with a money laundering case involving an alleged land scam.
