Sarah Sharma, an IPS officer from Odisha, will be the CBI DIG

Sarah Sharma, an Odisha-bred Indian Police Service (IPS) officer from the 2010 batch, is scheduled to be inducted as a Deputy Inspector General (DIG) into the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

Sharma will be appointed as a DIG on a deputation basis into the CBI for a period of five years from the date of assumption of charge of the post, or until further orders, whichever comes first, according to the official notification released by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).

The MHA has requested in writing to the Odisha Chief Secretary that Sarah Sharma be allowed to resume her new role at the Centre right away, and they have asked the state authorities to do so.

P Murugan, DIG, has an extended term ending on March 15, 2027. In a similar vein, Vidyut Vikash, who serves as the agency’s Superintendent of Police at the moment, has had his deputation tenure extended until February 18, 2025.
