In a case of Maoist violence, the ultras in the Kutur jungle of Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district—which borders Odisha’s Malkangiri district—ruthlessly murdered a CAF 4th Battalion Jawan by slitting his throat.
Tijau Ram, a jawan employed by the 4th Battalion of the Chhattisgarh Armed Forces (CAF) at the Darbha camp, has been identified as the martyred soldier.
Sources claim that Ram was kidnapped by Maoists and killed by having his throat slashed while shopping in a nearby market, or haat. Since the Maoists have been attacking local jawans, the Bijapur district has felt their presence.
In an effort to endanger the SOG jawans, they have also been planting landmines.
According to sources, Ram was approached by Maoists dressed as regular citizens. They later carried him into a forest, where they killed him horribly and then ran away, leaving his body in a pool of blood.
Combing operations have been stepped up in the area after the heinous murder.
