The Odisha government announced on Wednesday that schools would be closed for three days due to the extreme heatwave conditions that the state is currently experiencing. The I&PR department announced that all schools in Odisha will be closed for three days, ending on April 20, 2024.
It is important to note that Odisha is currently experiencing a severe heatwave, which has negatively impacted daily life.
According to a state government announcement, all schools—public and private—will be closed through April 20, 2024.
Many parents had previously protested school closures, citing concerns that their children would have to return home in sweltering heat and muggy conditions after school.
“Though morning classes are being conducted till 10:30 am, it is hard to return home as already the state is experiencing intense heatwave conditions since morning hours,” stated a guardian.
