Concerned district collectors will decide whether to reopen schools based on the weather, the Department of School and Mass Education was informed on Monday.
According to the department, if the weather is favourable and schools are permitted to open, morning classes will be held from 6:30 AM to 10 AM through June 20.
“All district Collectors of the state have been directed that they will declare an extension of holidays for classes Class I to XII of government, government-aided, and private schools or change the timings after taking the weather conditions of their districts into consideration,” stated Minister of School and Mass Education Nityananda Gond in an announcement about the government’s decision.
“In areas with favourable weather, the collectors will permit the schools to operate from 6.30 AM to 10.30 AM. This directive is effective until June 20,” he continued.
Notably, because of the extreme heatwave conditions throughout the State, the Odisha government decided to close the schools for summer vacation on April 25 rather than the originally planned date.
