A directive from the Personnel Ministry names senior IPS officer Nalin Prabhat as the head of the National Security Guard (NSG), the nation’s counterterrorism unit.
Prabhat, an Andhra Pradesh-bred Indian Police Service (IPS) officer from the 1992 batch, is currently employed with the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) as an Additional Director General.
According to the order, his appointment as the Director General of the NSG has been approved by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) for a term ending on August 31, 2028, which is his superannuation date.
NSG, the federal contingency force, was established in 1984 and is commonly referred to as the “black cats”.
Daljit Singh Chawdhary, the head of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), was in charge of the NSG in addition.
Additionally, Sapna Tewari’s appointment as the Special Director of the Intelligence Bureau (IB) has been approved by the ACC.
Tewari, an Odisha cadre IPS officer from the 1992 batch, is currently employed with the IB as an Additional Director.
According to the order, she has been named the Special Director, IB, with a two-year term from the date she takes over the position until the date of her superannuation, which is April 30, 2026.
