Odisha 2024 Elections: Will females of the future experience success where their men once lived?

Election-related rumors abound about who will run from where as the deadline approaches. According to reports, the daughters of three well-known figures are preparing to enter politics in an attempt to gain electoral advantages in their fathers’ home districts.

These three young leaders are making waves: Lipika Majhi, the daughter of former Congress MLA Bhujabal Majhi, Dr. Debasmita Sharma, and Subhashri Mishra, the daughter of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Jaynarayan Mishra.

There are rumors that Subhashri, who is supposedly taking over for her father Jayanarayan Mishra, is the talk of Sambalpur. She is regularly spotted participating in BJP programs.

Subhashri, an MBA candidate, had formerly employed in banking. Reportedly, she has abandoned her banking profession and is eager to enter politics as the daughter of her father’s political dynasty in the esteemed Sambalpur Assembly seat.

Subhashri led an agitation against Tata Power in Sambalpur yesterday, marking the beginning of her new political career. However, she stated that fighting elections depended on her father and the BJP’s aspirations.

Regarding her electoral strategy, Subhashri Mishra declared, “My father and the party’s seasoned leaders are the only ones who can comment on my candidacy. My father has been left to make this decision.

Devendra Sharma, a former Congress legislator from Kendrapara’s Aul Assembly constituency, has previously declared his “sanyas” from politics due to health concerns. It is reported that he has authorized his daughter Debasmita Sharma, a physician by training, to begin her political career.

In an effort to win back Congress supporters, Debasmita has been traveling to villages and attending to organizational concerns. She even applied for an Aul congressional ticket.

Debendra claimed that his daughter’s popularity is rising and that Congressmen are entirely in favor of her candidacy.

“I hope our party will give a tough fight to the ruling party in the 2024 elections,” Debasmita remarked.

Daughter of another Congress veteran, Bhujabal Majhi of Dabugaon, Nabarangpur, Lipika Majhi has already resigned from her job to join the Zilla Parishad (Zone-2) in Papadahandi.

The senior Congressman wants his daughter to run from the Dabugaon Assembly seat. He is also considering running for the Nabarangpur Lok Sabha constituency.

Lipika is allegedly preoccupied with running the organization in Dabugaon. She has submitted both online and offline applications for a Congress ticket.

“I have been trying my hardest to contest in Dabugaon,” Lipika declared. We must nominate young people. Politics is more appealing to young people.
