The Bihar government has chosen to implement a revolutionary strategy by offering medical courses to students in Hindi starting with the upcoming academic year.
Bihar Health Minister Mangal Pandey described the action as a historic one on Tuesday, stating that it was decided after careful consideration of all relevant factors, including the availability of Hindi textbooks for the MBBS programme.
The government’s objective of advancing Hindi and making it a universal language is in line with this decision, according to Pandey.
The nine-member committee’s suggestions served as the foundation for this new setup. It will be carried out in compliance with the AIIMS Delhi syllabus, which students must follow in order to pass the NEET-UG 2024.
Students will be able to study medical courses in Hindi or English thanks to this programme. Additionally, those who feel more at ease speaking Hindi than English would benefit from it. This step will also assist students who have completed their education in Hindi to continue medical courses.
There are about 85,000 government schools in Bihar that use Hindi as their primary language of instruction, according to an INAS report.
