The much-anticipated Lok Sabha election schedule was released by the Election Commission of India (ECI) on Saturday. Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, and Sikkim all announced their assembly election dates today.
At a press conference today in New Delhi, the ECI announced that the Lok Sabha elections will take place in seven stages, with the vote counting taking place on June 4, 2024. The model code of conduct is now in force as of the announcement.
Rajiv Kumar, the chief election commissioner, stated, “The first phase will be held on April 19, the second phase on April 26, the third phase on May 7, the fourth phase on May 13, the fifth phase on May 20, the sixth phase on May 25, and the seventh phase on June 1.”
There was also an announcement regarding the poll schedule for the four state assemblies: Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, Arunachal Pradesh, and Sikkim. In addition, bypolls for 26 Assembly constituency seats are scheduled in Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Bihar, Haryana, Tripura, and Telangana.
Voting for the Lok Sabha (2024) will take place at 10.5 lakh polling places between April 19 and June 1. On June 4, votes will be counted.
