In the Boudh district of Odisha, ganja valued at more than Rs 1.50 crore was found, police reported on Monday.
Superintendent of Police Raj Prasad said that a team from the Boudh Model police station raided the Bidamaska forest near Dimbirikhol village after receiving a tip, seizing 1,560 kg of ganja.
Three or four people who were there were able to escape when the police arrived, he said.
“We will soon identify the accused and arrest them,” he stated.
The SP reported that so far this year, the district has seen the seizure of 3,800 kg of ganja and the arrest of 17 drug dealers.
“We first heard about Maoist movements in some of the places where such massive amounts of ganja were found. It suggests that Maoists are engaged in the ganja trade,” he remarked.
