In Bargarh, Odisha, four labourers perish when a borewell truck runs over them while they are sleeping.

Tragically, four labourers died this morning at Birjam village, which is located under the Melchamunda police limits in Bargarh, after being run over by a borewell truck.

After being severely hurt in this incident, another labourer needed immediate medical attention at the hospital.

It has been reported that all of the deceased were employed by the borewell company and were from Madhya Pradesh.

Five labourers were reportedly asleep beneath the truck carrying the boring pipes when it ran them over.

“The driver was reversing the truck when some workers standing behind the truck shouted at him to not move the truck towards them,” Padampur SDPO Bibhuti Bhasan Bhoi said in reference to the incident. The driver then abruptly turned and ran the workers over on the opposite side, where they were sleeping.

“They were all engaged in the installation and excavation of tube wells. We are interrogating the borewell contractor’s personnel. We are making an effort to identify the departed. The inquest will then take place, Bhoi continued.
