To mitigate violence following elections in Ganjam, police have implemented a number of restrictive measures. In order to maintain law and order until the poll results are announced, police have placed restrictions on the opening of liquor stores due to a number of previous incidents.
Ganjam SP Jagmohan Meena stated, “Ganjam Police are committed to maintaining law and order,” during a press conference at Chhatrapur on Tuesday. Right now, preventive policing is our main concern. On June 4, the day of the vote count, liquor stores will be permitted to remain open until eight o’clock at night.
In addition, the SP stated that lodging facilities, tea shops, and roadside restaurants have been asked to stay open until 1:30 pm every day until June 4.
Police have been harshly pursuing offenders in the district in the interim. “The police have detained 100 antisocial individuals in the past week. Severe measures are being taken against the antisocial elements whose warrants are pending, who violate the Arms and Explosives Act, and who commit murder, attempted murder, and rioting,” he continued.
