Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s judicial custody was extended by a Delhi court on Tuesday until May 20 in connection with a money laundering case involving the purported excise policy scam that the Enforcement Directorate is looking into (ED).
The Supreme Court heard the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader’s appeal challenging his arrest by the agency on Tuesday, making it a momentous day for him. But the top court’s two-judge panel decided to rule on his request for temporary bail on May 9 or the following week when it hears his case once more.
On the expiration of his previously granted 14-day judicial custody, Special Judge Kaveri Baweja of the Rouse Avenue Court extended his judicial custody.
Additional Solicitor General (ASG) S. V. Raju for the ED had earlier declared that it reserved the right to ask for the AAP leader’s additional custody at a later time while requesting Kejriwal’s judicial custody.
