The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) welcomed actress Varsha Priyadarshini, the ex-wife of actor-turned-politician Anubhav Mohanty, on Thursday.
A few weeks after her estranged husband resigned from the party, the actress was inducted into the party at a programme held at BJD’s office, Sankha Bhawan, in front of leaders like Sasmit Patra.
The actress declared, “Since the day I met Naveen Patnaik, I have become his fan,” after attending the conch party. His simplicity—he talks less and works harder—is what makes him so remarkable.
Varsha has joined the long list of actors and actresses who have entered Odisha politics.
Notably, Anubhav Mohanty, the actress’s estranged husband, left the BJD on March 30 and joined the BJP on April 1.
The couple separated earlier this year as a result of a court order.
