Driver and assistant die in fatal bus crash in Jajpur; 13 passengers are critically injured

In Jajpur district, a tourist bus from Kolkata collided with a truck carrying cement, resulting in the deaths of at least two people. The incident happened within the Barchana police limits in Kandhei Chhak.

According to reports, the deceased served as the tour bus driver and assistant while it travelled from Kolkata to Puri. In addition, at least 13 passengers have been hurt in the collision. Seven people have been transferred to Cuttack SCB Medical College and Hospital due to what are described as critical conditions.

Inspector-in-Charge of the Barchana Police Station Sarat Patra stated: “The accident happened at approximately 3:45 a.m. Following the information, the police station staff, the night patrol, and the NH patrolling team hurried to the location. The bus carried about sixty people.”

Patra claims that following the accident, the bus caught fire, prompting the dispatch of firefighters and the removal of two bodies.
