Dola Purnima cultural events are scheduled on Srimandir Parikrama Marg.

From Dola Purnima onward, the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) has scheduled Sankirtan and a few other cultural events around the temple to create a spiritual atmosphere on the Srimadir Parikrama Marg in Puri.

Every evening, Mahari dance will be held, and every morning between six and seven in the morning, Vedic mantras will be chanted in the vicinity of Singhadwar. Then, on Srimandir Parikrama Marg, “Nama Sankirtan” will be organised.

The temple administration claims that these particular preparations have been made for pilgrims who travel to Puri in order to receive the blessings of the deities. They’ll have had a different experience when they get home.

In the Srimandir office on Sunday, a special meeting resulted in a decision to this effect.

Meeting attendees included the heads of several mutts and members of the Sri Jagannatha Temple Managing Committee. The meeting was chaired by Pradip Kumar Sahu, the Srimandir Administrator (development). Cultural events will be organised on Srimandir Parikrama Marg in accordance with the decision.

Evenings on the special galleries on the western and northern corners of the Srimandir Parikrama Marg will feature programmes on Odissi music, Chhanda, Champu, Gotipua dance, Mahari dance, and other cultural programmes based on the Jagannath culture.

“A decision was taken to organise all types of traditional cultural programmes such as Odissi, Pala, and Mahari, will be organised at the galleries in the evenings on different festivals or occasions,” member of the Sri Jagannatha Temple Managing Committee Ramakrushna Das Maharaj said in a statement to the media. The starting point will be Dola Purnima.
