On Thursday, Dambaru Sisha, a former MLA and leader of the BJD, resigned from the party’s primary membership.
He expressed his desire for a new beginning to fulfil the hopes and dreams of his people and employees in a letter to BJD president Naveen Patnaik.
“Serving the people of the state and the constituency is still my goal and purpose, as it has been since the beginning. I think I’m done being able to do this in this party. Thus, I think it is best to look forward to a fresh start in order to meet the aspirations of my people and my workers,” he wrote in his letter.
Conversely, senior leader Surendra Singh Bhoi also left the Congress party as a primary member.
Singh resigned from his position as president of the DCC Bolangir and from the All India Congress Committee (AICC) in a letter to Mallikarjun Kharge, the AICC president.
“I humbly request to announce that I would like to resign from both the AICC membership and the primary membership, as well as the position of president DCC, Bolangir, for personal reasons. He wrote, “With great honour, I thank you for allowing me to serve the party and my state with fervour, devotion, and discipline for 38 years.”
