Chief Justice of the Orissa High Court to be appointed is Justice Chakradhari Sharan Singh

The Orissa High Court has named Justice Chakradhari Sharan Singh as its Chief Justice.

“With effect from the date he assumes charge of his office, the President is pleased to appoint Shri Justice Chakradhari Sharan Singh, Judge of the Patna High Court, to be the Chief Justice of the Orissa High Court, in exercise of the power conferred by clause (1) of Article 217 of the Constitution of India,” stated the notification sent on Friday by the Deputy Secretary to the Government of India.

The Supreme Court Collegium had suggested Justice Singh’s name to the Central Government for appointment as the next Chief Justice of the Orissa High Court following the retirement of Justice Subhasis Talapatra on October 3, 2023.

On April 5, 2012, Justice Singh was named a judge of the Patna High Court of Judicature. He practiced at the High Court of Judicature in Patna, handling cases involving constitutional law, service, criminal law, and arbitration, after being admitted to the bar in 1990.

In addition, he held the position of Additional Advocate General for Bihar.
