In a landslide that occurred on Wednesday in Udhagamandalam, Tamil Nadu, an abandoned structure fell, resulting in the death of at least six female laborers, according to authorities.
In Udhagamandalam, near Gandhi Nagar, Love Dale, fifteen laborers—including women—were trapped during the incident.
Eight individuals were still stranded inside the wreckage after locals and emergency personnel pulled seven people out of it at first, six of them were women.
Two of the injured are critically ill and have been admitted to a nearby hospital, police sources said IANS.
Sakila, 30, Bhagya, 36, Sangeeta, 35, Radha, 38, Muthulakshmi, 36, and Uma, 35 are the names of the deceased women.
Media representatives were informed by construction workers that they were constructing a retaining wall behind an overhanging cliff that rose about 25 feet above the work site.
Rescuers said that a section of the cliff and an abandoned public restroom on the precipice toppled on top of the workers.
