In the next General Election, Bikram Panda, a leader of the BJD and MLA from Berhampur, is probably going to be announced as the party’s nominee for the Gopalpur constituency in the Ganjam district.
Ramesh Chandra Chyau Patnaik, the president of the BJD’s Ganjam district, gave notice of the potential on Friday.
“Panda has been given the Gopalpur organising duties for the party. In addition, he has been tasked with resolving difficult problems and carrying out community development initiatives. Chyau Patnaik expressed optimism that Panda would be the party’s candidate for MLA in the Gopalpur constituency, following Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
Chyau Patnaik, however, stayed silent when asked about the Berhampur candidate for the ruling party.
“The Chief Minister will decide who else will fight from Berhampur if Panda is fielded from Gopalpur,” he continued.
The Gopalpur Assembly constituency is a hot topic of discussion as the assembly election draws near. Following the current BJD MLA’s expulsion, the constituency has been experiencing a power struggle.
