At the Odishan Nandankanan Zoo, white tigress Sneha passes away.

Sneha, a 14-year-old white tigress, passed away on Friday at her enclosure in the Nandankanan Zoological Park, which is located outside of Bhubaneswar, according to officials.

The white tigress was receiving medication after becoming ill on Thursday. Despite receiving medication and saline, she passed away this morning.

The official stated that in addition to her advanced age, she might have been suffering from the current extreme heat wave.

Born on March 1, 2010, Sneha was the second pregnant mother of Royal Bengal tiger Nishan and white tigress Kusum. On August 5, 2016, she gave birth to three cubs: Mousumi, a female; Chinu, a male; and Vicky, a rare melanistic male.

Rakesh, Rocky, and Banshi, three healthy male tiger cubs, were born to her on March 28, 2021.

Bijaya, an 11-year-old white tigress, died at the zoo earlier in October 2022 due to a cancerous growth in her lungs.

In October 2019, a five-year-old white male tiger by the name of Subhranshu also passed away from liver-related illnesses.

According to official sources, the zoo will have 27 tigers by July 2023, comprising three melanistic and seven white tigers.
