Raghubar Das, a former Jharkhand chief minister, was sworn in as Odisha’s 26th governor on Tuesday.
Das took office during a special ceremony at Raj Bhawan, when the Orissa High Court Chief Justice administered the oath of office.
He invited eighty people, including friends and family, to his oath-taking ceremony today.
Das went to the Lingaraj temple in Bhubaneswar early before taking the oath in order to ask Lord Lingaraj for his blessings. In his prayers to the Lord, he asked for Odisha and India to achieve the highest levels of prosperity and growth.
Badu Nijog’s priests assisted Das, his family, and the Odisha BJP officials who went with him to the temple in performing puja and receiving the Lord’s darshan.
Lord Jagannath blessed Das when he visited Srimandir earlier on Monday, saying, “Lord Jagannath has brought me to Odisha to serve the people.” I want to reassure you that Raj Bhavan’s doors will always be open to the people of Odisha.
On October 18, President Droupadi Murmu named Raghubar Das, a former chief minister of Jharkhand, as the new governor of Odisha. He took Professor Ganeshi Lal’s seat.
